Mangrove Forest Boating
Drift through a living green cathedral of roots, birds and still water.
About this experience
Step aboard our comfortable, shaded boats and wind through the quiet backwaters of Pondicherry's mangrove forest. Our local boatmen know every turn of these channels and share stories of the ecosystem, the birds and the fishing villages along the way.
In one hour you'll see four sides of Pondicherry's backwaters: the mangrove forest, the busy fishing harbour, the river mouth where the backwater meets the sea, and the historic Arikamedu site. Trips run on a time schedule, so pre-book a slot that suits you. Online tickets are available too.
Perfect for families, couples and groups, it's the most relaxing way to experience the mangroves, especially at golden hour when the trees glow and the water turns to glass.
